First point: HPA 2009 picture album includes Nomination Awards, Documentary Awards, Final Juries’ Special Awards and Grand Awards, with more than 1600 pictures from 166 groups and over 50 countries’ folk customs and culture from photographers in 40 countries. Assistant Director-General for Strategic Planning UNESCO Mr. Hans d’Orville, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of GAGOC, Vice mayor of Guangzhou Mr. Xu Ruisheng and President of China Folklore Photographic Association MR. Shen Che prefaced the book. The appendix shows the press conference at the Headquarter of UNESCO, which held to inform the progress of HPA 2009.
Second point: The works are arranged in culture area order, not in awards order, namely Arabism, Africa, Latin American, Caribbean, Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific Region and etc. They are ordered from east to west and north to south in each culture area, which is of help to participants, researcher of culture heritage, all who interest in folk activities and even travel enthusiasts.
Third point: HPA 2009 picture album uses environment friendly papers, which not only protect environment, but also reduce the weight of the book.
Fourth point: HPA2009 picture album was published before the final results came out, so there is a list of HPA 2009 Documentary and Above Awards at the end of the book. We bound 300 books first for Awards Ceremony and Opening Ceremony of the premiere exhibition of "Memories of Mankind Ⅵ", and then rearranged the awards and republished the rest. In addition, we put page number next to the winners’ list just in case people want to know where the photos in the book. |
