WFPA was founded on August 11^th, 2009 in Canada after almost decade preparation. China Folklore Photographic Association (CFPA) serves as its international secretariat.

1999

The first preparatory meeting of WFPA was held in Pairs -- the headquarters of UNESCO on September 9^th, 1999. More than 40 persons from 20 countries attended. The conference had discussed the constitution of WFPA, selected the personnel for the first preparatory committee and set a fixed timeline for next meeting.

2000

The second preparatory meeting of WFPA was conducted in Quanzhou in June, 2000. The meeting announced the established of the Foundation Committee, divided the work of the WFPA Preparatory Committee and set the agenda of the Founding Conference in October.

2005

Reported the progress of preparation for establishment of WFPA to UNESCO.

2008

WFPA applied for joining in the international NGOs of the UNESCO.

2009

WFPA was officially established in Canada on August 11^th, 2009, and the celebration meeting was held at Guangzhou on September 17^th, 2009.
